It was a night of pure music magic as “One Night Stand With “Adekunle Gold” + The 79th Element (#ONSWAG) held last night for fans of good music.
Adekunle Gold, in his elements, showed why he’s a force to be reckoned with as he dished out what can be termed as a “performance”. Bringing out Simi for a duet, the lovebirds show why they really cannot keep their love away from the media anymore. They had such a wonderful chemistry on stage with a beautiful rendition of their collaboration.
#ONSWAG was truly a night of pure bliss as Adekunle Gold delivered amazing musical sets that will be talked about by the public for a long time to come.

X3M Music sensation – SIMI had her very first headline show last Sunday at Hard Rock Cafe tagged “See Me Live”.
There were masterclass performances from Simi herself, Adekunle Gold and Falz as fans witnessed a never-seen-before artistry of musical excellence. There was also a “Despacito” Nigerian cover by SIMI, tucked in between the amazing performances.

‘Dotman Kuraja, Hakuna Matata’, if you live in Nigeria that refrain is probably stuck in your head on default with the massive impact this tune made on Nigerian airwaves. Unheralded before 2016, Dotman became a national sensation with song ‘AKube’. Even T-Pain had to dance to ‘Akube’ when he stormed Nigeria to perform. 13. Maleek Berry – Kontrol
Renowned producer Maleek Berry exposed fans to another side of him as an artist when he unleashed the ‘Last Days of Summer’ EP on us. 12. Adekunle Gold – Ready
It is safe to say 2016 was a ‘golden’ year literally as it signified the rise and rise of Nigeria’s king of the alternative genre Adekunle Gold. His vastly different style caught immediate attention and the Adekunle Gold brand grew in leaps and bounds. The song ‘Ready’ at a point held the airwaves spell bound as Mr. Gold’s voice worked his magic on music consciousness. Classic wedding tune ‘there’s a man for every woman’ , ‘mo ti ready ooo’.
11. Mayorkun – Eleko
Davido’s latest protege Mayorkun son of renowned Nollywood actress made a huge splash as he plunged into the Nigerian music scene in 2016. The Puffy Tee produced track ‘Eleko’ took the nation by storm and caught up like a fever. The DMW act Mayorkun capped the year by winning the Headies 2016 Rookie of The Year. Debuts don’t come better than ‘Eleko’ which literally became a National anthem.
10. Reekado Banks – Oluwa Ni
One of 2016’s certified hitmakers is surely Reekado Banks without a doubt. The MAVIN son has earned enormous plaudits and dersevingly so for his talnet since bursting onto the scene. The sweetly crafted tune with Altims ‘Oluwa Ni’ was a hit as soon as it dropped and would go down in Nigerian music annal as one of the hottest tracks of 2016. Gbedu wey dey bust brain , Reeky was standard on this one and the song’s popularity attests to it.
9. Sugarboy – Hola Hola
G Worldwide signee Sugarboy finally announced his talents to the Nigerian music industry on this tune. Glimpses of him on ‘Raba’ merely showed flashes of his undoubted talent and ‘Hola Hola’ was the track that confirmed it. The song became one of the most played songs in the summer and no party was complete without the refrain ‘Hola Hola’.
8. Zoro ft Flavour – Ogene

Groovy and feel good tune that the girls could not stop bumping to it party starter for your favourite Dj; ‘No Kissing Baby’ stands tall on the list at number 7.
6. Falz ft Simi – Soldier
One of the most beautiful musical synergy on the Nigerian music scene currently has to be Falz and Simi. The two talented stars have set tongues wagging with dating rumours trailing them but there is undeniable music chemistry between the duo. One of this was brought to life on the monster hit song ‘Soldier’, which was followed by a movie like video and fans could not just get enough.

Olamide emerges as usual suspect on this list with his knack for creating street anthems. He dropped the ‘New Era’ album that has earned critical acclaim and the song ‘Mama’ is definitely one of the hottest songs of 2016.Kiss delivers in his usual effortless self on a catchy beat with witty lyrics and the ears got stuck on replay.
3. Phyno ft Olamide – Fada Fada
Let’s take you to church real quick for number 3 because thats exactly what Phyno did with this church style inspired tune produced by the genius Masterkraft with usual accomplice Olamide on this one. The Beast from the East Phyno and the King of The West Olamide conspired to murder this tune, which might as well have been the Nigerian national anthem for 2016 with its massive popularity. Massive , Massive hit!
2. Mr. Eazi ft Efya – Skin Tight
Call 2016 the year of Mr Eazi and you are not too far from the point as anything the Detty boy touched turned into gold. Mr Eazi’s wave rose and shot through the rooftop in a ridiculously short time and his refreshing sound was a welcome relief from the norm. ‘Skin Tight’ featuring Efya is one of the songs that ruled Africa from Casablanca to Congo and beyond . Lif is surely Eazi for Mr Eazi as the continent sings along to ‘Skin Tight’. I go dey your body like skin tight.

2016 witnessed many hits but one hit song got us all spectacularly enamored and thats the song ‘Pana’ by Tekno. The Triple MG act built on the promise of previous years by owning 2016 with string of hit songs with ‘Pana’ topping them all. Pana was not only a national hit but a continental hit as the song became number 1 on the charts of many African countries.
