Sho Madjozi- South African beauty, Sho Madjozi stormed into the music scene with her outstanding brand of music and has never looked back . She has raked in multiple awards and nominations and is without a doubt , South Africa’s biggest female musical export at the moment.

Sauti Sol- Kenyan boy band , Sauti Sol has captured the heart of African music lovers with their unique talents and style of music. As a matter of fact , the biggest stars across the continents always seek their collaboration on the biggest projects. Such is their standing and they earn their place in this list with all due merit.

Simi – The Afrimma 2020 Best Female West Africa winner Simi is one of the best voices in African music. This she has proved over the years and reinforced in year 2020 as well. Not even maternity could hold Simi back earning a number 1 single with Duduke and assisting Ladipoe on his first number 1 single ‘Know You’. Dj Maphoriza – Veteran South African Producer Dj Maphoriza has been one of the outstanding names in African music for a bit now. 2020 however saw him even step up a notch with the Amanpiano sound that he and his regular co-hort Kabza De Small made popular. A string of hits followed by a collaborative album cements his status as one of the top dogs in African music for 2020.

Olamide- Nigeria’s lyrical genius Olamide aka Baddo enjoyed a renaissance in year 2020 with album Carpe Diem , a solid body of work that has attained critical acclaim. Olamide’s talents we have all known about but the way he reinvented himself this year deserves plaudits. Olamide’s status as one of the most influential artists in Africa is in no doubt.

Calema – Cape Verdean singing duo Calema has been flying the Anglophone music flag with distinction. However,in the outgoing year the rest of Africa took notice of this wonderfully talented duo culminating in their Afrimma Awards 2020 win and MTV Mama’s nominations.

Dadju- Another entrant from Congo is the suave Paris based Dadju , the super talented act keeps a cool mien but when he opens his mouth to sing , it’s pure magic. He continued his good run on the music scene in 2020 with solid hits and some big collaborations with other African stars.

Stonebwoy- Ghana’s perennial hit maker Stonebwoy rounds up our list of top 20 African acts of 2020. The dancehall king is one of the most consistent artists in Africa and his discography in 2020 proved such . His latest single ‘Activate’ featuring Davido is currently enjoying massive airplay and he bagged several awards and recognitions through the year.
