Ntsebo Lerotholi known professionally as ‘Degrees of Light’ is a South African singer, songwriter actress and sound engineer.
After pursuing a career in both music and acting, and a tireless passion and drive, she is about to release her debut solo single – ‘Far Away’ – a 90s styled, smooth hip-hop soul track she wrote about her real life experience of heartbreak.
Born and raised in Mafikeng, her family moved to Bloemfontein when she was 11 years old. At age 16, Ntsebo was among the Top 9 in the Free State’s Volksblaad singing competition, Spontaan. After Matric she studied acting at AFDA Cape Town, where she formed an Afro-RnB singing duo called Nala.
In 2011, Ntsebo was among the Top 32 of MNET’s season 7 of SA IDOLS where she shared the stage with the Parlotones.
After her IDOLS experience, she pursued a career in musical theatre where she performed in numerous productions including Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’, toured the country doing children’s theatre and also appeared on Mzanzi Magic short films.
She is currently working on her first EP, After Dark, which is a laid back, mid-tempo, hip-hop soul/ RnB project she’s co-producing with a deep house/ soul music producer, Soul in Transit.
Far Away is the first single off ‘After Dark’ and sees her bravely stepping out and into the limelight.
Although only 29, Degrees Of Light’ vocal skills show a maturity and a sultriness that will surely take her far.
