Universal Music Group’s recording artistes, Sauti Sol, officially drops a brand new single and video titled “Suzanna.”
“Suzanna” tackles the controversial phenomenon of sponsors/blessers. With their clever irreverent lyrics and sharp wit they poke fun at a woman who is a beneficiary of the champagne life as sponsored by an older man.
The accompanying video, directed by Leke Alabi-Isama, was shot in Nigeria. “It’s more comic relief judging by how they are styled in the 70s disco ball chic complete with puffy colourful men blouses, large ‘fros and perms. ‘It’s also a reminder of the good ole days of how stylish Africans were.” comments Bien.
Polycarp Otieno says good vibes continue in the new album, and it will be a milestone release for the group. “There is a lot of maturity in the album. We have come of age and we express how people should perceive us freely after 11 years as professional singers. Every song speaks to an issue that is relatable to everyone.
Bensoul retraces his journey from Embu to Nairobi on ‘Niombee‘. The song is also an ode to his mother. It serves as a reminder for prayer and protection from the fast life.
It was an unusually cold for an October morning on the 25th less than 24 hours to the 6th edition Afrimma Awards & Music Festival. The Afrimma production team had just rounded up another think, tank session in the quest for producing the best Afrimma edition yet. The team looked in high spirits even if the cold weather had everyone wrapping up warm. There’s a lot of creative processes that goes on behind the scenes in the production of the biggest African music awards in Diaspora. From the selected performers to the red-carpet theme, to the colors displayed on stage. There is a peculiar thought process that goes into the production. This year the Afrimma artwork displayed on the stage wowed people and set tongues wagging. The beautiful artwork illuminated the Afrimma stage all night looking breathtaking and drawing gasps from the audience on sight. Drawing inspiration from the Biblical last supper parable, our Chief creative officer Edem Jimbo created this artwork of some of Africa’s top music stars using the inspiration of the last supper.
This piece is an attempt to explain and piece together to the different parts of the jigsaw and take you into creative thought process of the Afrimma 2019 Awards & Music Festival Artwork.

Rising Kisumu based-Kenyan act Gabiro Mtu Necessary is ready to woo the ladies with his new single “Bad Girl Loving,” The song produced by DTX Music at Kompakt Records sees light on the first day of August, 2019.
Putting Gabiro’s both bellowing and crooning voice on the radar, “Bad Girl Loving” is an upbeat Dance-soul oriented track that’s nothing but a sweet ode to women. “This one’s for the love I have for bad girls and ratchet ladies coz there is no better and crazier love than that, I wish I found one of these kinds to marry soon.” Gabiro kicks off the track.
In the track Gabiro pulls through creatively with his lyrical prowess to show off both his sides of being a rapper and singer on a diverse danceable instrumental; it is for sure a club banger to get you up on your feet all night.
His rise has seen him gaining the respect of his rap peers with his lyrical precision at the youthful age of 20. Boasting 15 tracks in total since the kick-start of his music career, the self-proclaimed Kisumu President has been trading bars with a spray of special guests like Wyre, Kidis the Jembe, Nigeria’s Ketchup, Shamir and recently he released visuals for International Local alongside is producer friend Videz Hybrid.
His previous release “Chances” was received by mixed reactions making out one of the most talked releases of his career considering many people took it as disrespect even after Gabiro came out clean to explain,
“I just wanted to express myself and be artistic that’s just what I found myself doing, just being a dexterous artist, person and human being. Forget about an artist, I’m a human being at the end of the day. So I’m just expressing myself and being more proficient. It’s like just speaking my truths.” ~ Gabiro
He continues. “I am not sure anyone is offended coz no one has contacted me to tell me so but at the end of the day we are all sinning and I am just singing.”
“Bad Girl Loving” is Gabiro’s seventh single following his previous releases “Story”, “Naitwa Gabiro,” “Ujumbe,” “Chini Ya Maji,” “Nitembezee” and “Chances.”
Raj finally dropped the visuals for his highly anticipated project with the super talented singer and vocalist, Victoria Kimani dubbed ‘IGO’ that has been on the works for a while.
The chemistry and the positive energy that Victoria Kimani usually brings in most, if not all of her collaborations are usually classic and unprecedented making her one of the best female artistes everybody wants to work with the music industry and her blessing the ‘IGO’ record with her melodious vocals and Raj spitting the venomous fire on the verses, it’s something that you won’t ever forget.
This collaboration is just perfect and after watching and listening to the record, we sure can’t wait to listen to another record these two established artistes will come up with because it’s inevitable for them to work together in the future, their chemistry can’t be ignored at all.
The Music Bank founder and ‘Sawa Sawa’ hit maker who also worked with Stella Mwangi three years ago on his hit record ‘Obe Baba remix’ has not only released one of the best records you will listen to this year with Victoria Kimani but he has also promised to bring back the ‘Bae Tuesdays’ which will run until the end of the year
“… Imma be releasing 20 songs, videos and collabs! …” Raj wrote in part on social media
